Pizza Pinwheels

Frankly speaking these are awesome, easy to make and your done in one hour! Basically its a dinner version of a cinnabun….with the filling made out of pizza ingredients.

On a Scale from 1 to 10:

1 = easy/horrible taste

10 = extremely difficult / best food on earth

Easy= 3

Taste = 8

The ingredients

You start by mixing butter into the dough ( with your hands is the best method)


Layer with any toppings you want and roll up ( I just used cheese…maybe ill try adding sausage next time)

  • 2 cups self-raising flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 stick of butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 jar of tomato paste
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese ( or any kind of cheese you prefer)
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tbs of milk
  • 1/2 tsp of oregano
  • 1/4 garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp of pepper
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Line baking pan with waxed paper or grease pan ( preferably with butter).
  3. Sift the flour and salt into a large bowl. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour until it resembles fine breadcrumbs, Then add 2/3 cup of milk.
  4. Keep adding flour until dough is no longer sticky, then gently knead dough on floured surface until smooth ( about 5 minutes).
  5. Roll dough into rectangle about 2 inches thick and spread with tomato paste.
  6. Sprinkle with oregano,garlic powder and cheese.
  7. Turn the dough so the long end is in front of you and roll up. Slice into 10-12 pieces and place side-by-side on the tray.
  8. Mix together, egg yolk, milk, salt and pepper then brush onto pinwheels and bake for 25 minutes

Makes 9 medium sized Pinwheels

So we got some pepper steak from a Halal meat store in NJ and i decided to try out Chinese styled beef and broccoli.While it was really easy to make, the stir-fry didntĀ  taste like it does in the Chinese restaurants šŸ˜¦ . Now don’t get me wrong, it didn’t taste bad…but it wasnt like knock your socks off amazing so Ive decided to give up on making Chinese food at home…..Some things only taste good in restaurants.

Turkish Pide


I would say my favorite kind of food ( after american food ) is definitely Turkish food. There is this lovely Turkish restaurant near my home that serves great food and they catered a fundraising dinner that i recently attended and their was leftover Eggplant salad (which i brought home). Eggplant salad is usually eaten with fresh baked pide and since I didnt have any pide on hand….I decided to make my own and thus I embarked on a 3 hour experiment into baking pide.

As a side note I have decided to do a rating system for all my future cooking experiments so that fellow cooks know what their getting themselves into.

1 = easy/horrible taste

10 = extremely difficult / best food on earth

Easiness level: 8 ( not because the steps are hard…but because it took 3 hours to make)

Taste: 9 (Pide tastes very similar to fresh bread, although it may look like pita bread, it has more of a bready-texture/taste…if that makes any sense)


You start out letting the yeast and sugar sit for a few minutes…and this is what it looks like

You let it rise…and then you punch the dough down and form the dough into circle rounds

Tomato Bisque Soup

During Ramadan I had this awsome tomato bisque soup at the Pasta factory (formerly Nothing but Noodles) and it inspired me to make my own

it started out looking like this….I was bit worried that it was too “watery” considering this was my first time ever making soup

Last night I had a craving for something sweet….but it was 9pm and so I wanted it to be something I’ve made before and that was relatively easy. I decided on Panqueques and i used this recipe.
